Black heart patterned earrings. I have mixed black polymer clay with white acrylic and silver metallic leaf to created these beautiful and unusual heart dangle earrings. To create the pattern the black clay is conditioned so that it is soft enough to work with and then white acrylic is dabbed onto the clay before the silver leaf is rolled into the clay and the whole mixture is formed together into a bar shape.
Once the clay has been allowed to settle slices of the clay can be cut which reveals what kind of pattern I have made. (I have work in progress videos on my Instagram page which shows various clay canes being made, this one is of Halloween inspired neon colours: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cgylf_EPTUK/ ) I cut out the shapes by hand and try to get the pairs of hearts with similar patterns. As this is a hand crafted item of jewellery no two items will ever be identical which is a beautiful plus of owning a slow made artisan product and not a mass produced item.
After the clay has been baked and finished curing, I sand and drill the hearts before applying many layers of varnish to give a glamourous glossy finish. The subtle flash of silver adds a touch of the mysterious to the earrings. These would be an ideal pair of earrings for someone who loves their neutral and monochrome tones and shades but loves to express their sense of style with stunning yet subtle accessories.
